Flippa Ball - New Summer Sport

We have just heard that New Zealand Waterpolo are putting together a Flippa Ball league at the Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre.

This is a very exciting sport and is very fast growing in New Zealand.   Flippa Ball games are held in the shallow end of a swimming pool, so that the children can stand up or swim for the ball.   There is a goal at each end and teams of 7 try to score as many goals as possible to win!

We are looking for children who love the water and are able to  swim at least 25 metres – they don’t have to be amazing swimmers but they do need to be fairly confident in the water.

  • The games will be on Sunday afternoons 5-7pm
  • A training with Sarah Southcombe may be possible on Friday evenings.
  • Waterpolo numbered caps will be provided.
  • There will be grades for years 3 and 4 mixed and years 5 and 6 mixed.
  • Approx. cost $50 for term

If you have children who are interested and you are interested in managing a team please contact Jennie info@sportgulfharbour.co.nz.

Basketball Training Every Wednesday at GHSchool 3.15pm

We are very honoured to have Coach Llew on board with SGH.

Coach Llew has vast experience in coaching international college and university basketball teams and has offered his support to our club to ensure basketball skills are gained by our members.

Coach Llew is holding a free practice night at Gulf Harbour School every Wednesday at 3.15pm and will attend as many games as possible to assist your team.

Please make every effort to support your team and yourselves and attend Wednesday training afternoons at Gulf Harbour School.

Practice will help you to form a relationship with Coach Llew so when he attends your games he will be able to better coach you with the new skills you have learnt and then you will play better on the day.

If you have any queries for Coach Llew please email him. coachllew@sportgulfharbour.co.nz
