The Axel Collection. HALO's industrially inspired range.
The Axel Collection of case goods, dining, occasional, consol and coffee tables, shelving and storage is a dramatic industrially inspired range.
The solid wood components of the products are recycled from decommissioned Chinese Junks. After decades of exposure to the high seas and elements, these qualities are enhanced and enriched.
The reclaimed wood from hulls, decking and beams is combined with metal to create a solid, linear collection with strength of character and personality.
The interplay of the beautiful Sassafras wood and metal creates a juxtaposition of interesting textures. The collection continues the ecological endeavours of HALO.

Resene The Range 2011/2012
Get your walls in fashion!
The new The Range 2011/12 fashion paint fandeck from Resene is full of inspiring designer paint colours that will take you into 2011 and beyond. Colours are tending towards more feminine hues. There are touches of uber bright reds, oranges, yellows and violets to draw in the eye like a flower. These brights from across all colours provides a handy accessible palette of optimistic accents.
Greens are inspired by nature with sunny tones, yellow greens, refreshing greens and crossover hues moving from green to blue.
Nostalgia comes through in feel good colours like landscape greens, yellows and ochres. Yellows have a retro undertone with an underlying hint of green.
Reds are in abundance – deep, strong and eyecatching – a definite feature of the new palette. The influence of Latin America brings in highly saturated reds and oranges, clean and bright. Rustic hues round out the red and orange palette.
Blues are also growing in number, with intense blues a viable neutral alternative to grey or black. Watery blues are refreshing and optimistic blues invigorating. Blue meets pop with clean warm cyan blue and bold blues for interest.
There is a slow move from the gray family to browns, warm neutrals and mineral inspired hues, including subtle flesh tones. Off-whites are pure and uncomplicated, and there is a definite comeback of cool white as a background neutral.
You’ll find all this and more in the new The Range 2011/12, available from your local Resene ColorShop.

Designer Rooms at the Auckland Homeshow
Once again, Designworx is involved in the Designer Rooms at the September Auckland Home Show, instigated in 2008 to inspire visitors and show-case leading designs and trends.
Amanda Neill from Designworx interprets this years brief of “The Five Senses” by stepping outside the ordinary boundaries of interior design.
“Humans use five basic senses to experience the world around us. The senses include sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. We use our senses everyday, but we often forget the importance of appealing to them when we design our homes. Most people focus on how their room looks, with no regards to the other senses. If you want to create a truly fabulous room design, finding ways to engage all five senses within your space can create magic.
Good design speaks to you. It engages your senses, often at a deep subliminal level, and makes you feel….something….. Whether it be a positive or negative feeling, good design invokes a response
Sometimes we need to think outside the square, engage the senses in a different way, to challenge what is common, and step outside the ordinary”
She has incorporated some extraordinary features in her room, a hanging fireplace invokes warmth and ambiance, a living wall breathes nature into the theme, and is carried through with moss green colours, and wallapers to invoke a spa-like feeling.
Visit the website www.designworxnz.co.nz for a 2 for 1 voucher for the Auckland Home Show, and visit the stand in Hall 3, where Designworx will be “Taking it one step further”
