Johnston Imports - Halo Design

Halo New Zealand would like to invite you to their launch at Designex June 28-30 Stand 438 - Auckland Showgrounds

With International Design Director Timothy Oulton at the helm, the design team at Halo is constantly testing the boundaries of commercial furniture design. The team is influenced by their own rich industry experience, and draw inspiration from cultural diversity and regular global travel.

When it comes to creating the right balance of tradition and innovation in an iconic piece of furniture, every bolt, every stitch, every detail counts. Each product is handcrafted using only the best techniques and fabrications. This is a tribute to the company's antiques heritage. Knowledge of ageless craftsmanship and detail reverberate in every piece of furniture.

Halo spends hours fine-tuning each piece: leather is patiently subjected to intricate ageing techniques, with each product requiring seven stages of hand finishing by skilled craftsmen. Each product also represents a huge number of man hours, necessary to achieve an aesthetic standard that ensures distinct individuality. Irregularities are protected rather than rejected and individuality is cherished rather than banished.
Patience, time and skill nurture each creation, leading to the perfection Halo strives to achieve.

Designworx on colour
Designworx on Colour - Neutrals

The quiet environment of nature is reflected in this huge palette.
Neutral schemes are most often monochromatic schemes, working with a single colour or hue to create harmonious environments.

When working with a neutral scheme, consider other elements such as texture found in fabric, metallic finishes, or bold accents. There is no need for a neutral scheme to be bland, as so often seen.

A purely neutral colour scheme is made up of white, greys, and black.
It can also contain browns, as well as mixtures of all of the above, including cream and beige. If you are using browns, make sure you have enough light, otherwise they can look muddy.

You won't find neutral colours on the colour wheel but most of them are not
entirely 'neutral' either - they carry a hint of colour. They go beautifully with more saturated colours.

Written by Amanda Neill from Designworx.

Designworx also runs regular One Day Workshops on understanding colour and creating your own personalised colour scheme that works.
